Biography

Scott W. Briggs, AIA, brings more than 30 years of design experience to SKOLNICK. As a design lead, he works closely with SKOLNICK Principals in driving the conceptualization, visual representation, and realization of museum projects. His work is focused on the integration of museum and exhibit environments, interpretation, graphics, and media to create engaging visitor experiences. His background in the planning and design of cultural, civic, entertainment, and hospitality facilities informs the development of his projects. As Project Manager, he is accountable for leading the overall project and consultant teams, developing plans, and managing budgets and schedules to ensure projects are completed to the highest possible standard. As a Registered Architect, he brings his master planning and architectural design experience to our cultural projects, and often leads the coordination of exhibit and architectural elements on projects that embody both components.

In his 20 years with SKOLNICK, Scott has provided leadership for architectural and exhibition design and management on many of the firm’s significant museum and cultural projects including the Muhammad Ali Center, Louisville, KY; Royal Alberta Museum, Edmonton, Alberta, CA; Muzeiko - America for Bulgaria Children’s Museum, Sofia, Bulgaria; Miami Children’s Museum, Miami, FL; 9/11 Tribute Museum, New York, NY; NYU Langone Medical Center Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, New York, NY; Children’s Library Discovery Center at Queens Library, Jamaica, NY; and East Hampton Library Children’s Wing and Young Adult Room. More recent projects have included the Bishop’s Basilica of Philippopolis, Plovdiv, Bulgaria; Library of Congress’ Youth Lab, Washington, DC; New-York Historical Society - The Jerni Collection, New York, NY; Rye Free Reading Room library renovation and expansion, Rye, NY; and a changing exhibition Pavilion for Art Omi, Chatham, NY.

The recipient of numerous design awards, Scott represents the firm at national conferences and writes about the firm’s projects for publications. He frequently serves as a visiting critic and presenter with several colleges and universities including SUNY/FIT, Bank Street College of Education, and Pratt Institute. Scott is an active member of the New York City chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) where he recently served as Secretary on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and is a former Co-Chair of the Cultural Facilities Committee.
