MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL FAN EXPERIENCE AND MUSEUM

Durham, NC

SKOLNICK collaborated with Minor League Baseball (MiLB) and the city of Durham to conceptualize a Minor League Baseball museum and fan experience on the renovated grounds of historic Durham Athletic Park, home to the legendary Durham Bulls. The facility celebrates how this American pastime is woven into the fabric of communities across the country and invites visitors of all ages to explore the many facets of this beloved game.

PLAY BALL!

The concept includes active opportunities for visitors to experience a 97-mph fastball at bat, step into the broadcast booth, design a team mascot, and compete against fellow fans in interactive trivia games. Visitors can also explore MiLB history and memorabilia and investigate the inner workings of a ballpark itself, from groundskeeping to concessions.

CLOSE TO THE ACTION

A three-story glass Tower Pavilion offers visitors a bird’s-eye-view of the ball field. This signature design feature also provides easy access to all galleries and visitor experiences, including a café, a learning center, and a 360°-panoramic high-definition media orientation experience.

In addition to providing visioning and concept design services, SKOLNICK also developed fundraising materials to help garner support to implement the project.
