LOOKING BACK AND LOOKING FORWARD

While the architecture and interior design will recognize the industrial past of these buildings, the exhibits are planned as a counterpoint. Full of colorful and dynamic environments, they allude to all time periods of Savannah’s history beginning with its founding in 1733 and looking toward its future. The centerpiece of the museum will be a multi-level ship representing various eras, recognizing Savannah’s importance as a port city.

UNIQUELY SAVANNAH

Other exhibits focus on Savannah’s unique coastal environment, with areas devoted to Gray’s Reef, underwater archaeology, barrier islands and marshes, as well as the built environment. A large exhibit called “Savannah Times” features Savannah’s distinguished architecture and city planning, and its role as a center of trade with various “shops” and a “City Market” for role play and discovery.
